I've finally gotten my hands on this beautiful baptisia, one of the best native plants you may have never heard of.
This native sends up sturdy stems that are covered in soft pink blooms that changes to a dusty lavender. The foliage is a lovely, soft blue-green. After the blooms finish feeding a multitude of pollinators, they form edamame-like pods that lend textural interest to your landscape.
Choose your planting site well since baptisia does not like to be moved once planted. It sends down a deep taproot, which makes them highly drought-tolerant once established.
Plant in a sunny to partly sunny area. Plants die completely back in the winter and will continue to grow until they are about 4' wide and 4' high.
Deer don't bother this plant at all. Since baptisia fixes nitrogen into the soil, it can be planted in average to poor soil. A grouping of baptisia makes a great hedge or anchor in a landscape.
Baptisia also makes a fantastic cut flower and foliage for your arrangements. Blooms in spring/early summer. This is a Proven Winners™ hybrid cultivar.
Comes in a 1 gallon pot.
